MEETINGS & EVENTS OFFICERS & DIRECTORS CALENDAR OF EVENTS
Bulletin: Karen Jordan, the first ever woman, was elected by acclamation to the Board of Directors of the Nettles Island Fishing Club. Fish Club enters the 21st Century. N.O.W celebrates! Rejoicing abounds. Wives are speaking to their husbands again. Details below. At the February 10, 2010 meeting of the Nettles Island Fishing Club, President Snook Graham presiding, nominations to the Board of Directors were announced by Ed McIntosh who presided over the nomination process. The Board consists of 15 members, of which 5 members are elected each year for a three year term. Two members currently on the Board, Marty Connor and Mark Boston had declined to serve again and two club members expressed their wiliness to be nominated in their current positions. The nominations for 2009 for three years are: Karen Jordan and Ken Jonak. Three times Ed called for nominations from the floor and there being none he recommended to the assembled members that since there were no further nominations and since there were 2 openings and 2 nominations that those proposed be elected to the Board by acclamation of the assembled members present. That was done. Congratulations Karen and John and welcome aboard. The new members will take over their duties at the March meeting. President Snook Graham expressed his thanks to the two members leaving the Board for the work they did for the Club over the many years both as volunteers and in their official capacity as Board members. Other things: We were denied a speaker at the meeting by virtue of a no show, but we carried on anyway. Our 50/50, which isn’t, was won by John Elliot; the second part was won by Mike Magliano. Ed Green reported that some 386 tickets were sold for the last fish fry and the next one is February 26. Tickets are sold to members only for $7.00 per and a limit of two each. Mike Magliano is organizing a “drifter fishing” trip. Want to go? Call him at 3585. A fishing contest is to be held on the beach on Wednesday at 7AM to 10 AM. The cost is one buck cash and you get a prize even if skunked, which I am very familiar with. Make a note: The fish fry at the Spring Festival is on March 18 and tickets, at $6.00 each, will be sold at the Post Office, date TBA. The Spring Festival is open to everyone with no limit on tickets. None however, are sold on the date of the Fry. Fish on, jim Grant
